Plans on who will succeed the late Emir of Zazzau in Kaduna state, Alhaji Shehu Idris, who died on Sunday have begun among the princes of the Emirate.
In fact, the race has become intense as Prince Muhammad Munir Jafar top the list prepared by the Emirate king makers.
Investigation by Inside Arewa correspondent revealed that others on the list are Aminu Shehu Idris, the eldest son of the late Emir of Zazzau, and Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli.
Inside Arewa also learnt that the king makers prepared the list based on submission made by members of each of three ruling dynasties of the Emirate namely – Barebari, Katsinawa and Mallawa dynasties where Munir, Aminu and Bamalli come from respectively.
As at the time of filing this report, a serious meeting on the selection of one, out of the three contenders was still on.
At the meeting, Kaduna state Governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai, was represented by the top government functionaries led by the Secretary to the state government, Mallam Balarabe Abbas, in company of Commissioners of Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs Alhaji Jafari Sani, and his counterpart in the Ministry of finance, Alhaji Bashir Sa’idu.
Inside Arewa reports that following the demise of the late Emir, high profile personalities including Traditional Rulers and top civil servants from across the country were still trooping the ancient City of Zaria to condole with his family, state government.
