The Gombe State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says the command is ready to enforce all the COVID-19 guidelines on motorists to contain the spread of the virus in the state.
The state Sector Commander, Ibrahim G. Ishaku stated this during a familiarisation tour to the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ).
He said the command has made adequate arrangements to enforce the COVID-19 guidelines and protocol as directed by the federal government through the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Ishaku said that they would focus on motorists that ply the road and ensure that they strictly adhere to the rules and regulations.
The sector commander directed all motor parks to comply with the directives in addition to providing hand sanitisers, soap and water to passengers. He added that drivers should use hand gloves and face masks, while passengers should always use face masks too.
He advised motorists to stay away from using air conditioners when travelling with more than one passenger in the vehicle.
Ishaku also promised to work harmoniously with journalists in the state to keep the roads safe and secured, adding that all hands must be on deck to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
In her response, Chairman of the chapel, Hajara Usman Leman, promised that journalists would work harmoniously with the FRSC, through sensitising members of the public on the activities of the command.
